Welcome to Wilson School District No. 7

Excellence in Education

Welcome to the official website of the Wilson Elementary School District. You’ll find us in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, in Maricopa County. The Wilson Elementary School District is rich in tradition with over 100 years in existence and continuing to exemplify excellence in education.

Although the district has been identified as one of the most at-risk districts in the state of Arizona due to the poverty of the community, it boasts a state-of-the-art technology program, continued training for teachers, and rigorous academics that prepare our students for the future.

We’re glad you’re here and hope you take a moment to explore our website and get to know us. Be sure to meet our staff, check out our community resources, and read the latest district news. Enjoy your visit with us!

A Message from Our Superintendent

On behalf of the Wilson School District, I welcome you and wish you the best in the 2015–16 school year. This will be an exciting year for our students.

We will continue to gear our teaching to meet the requirements of the new AzMERIT exam that the Arizona State Board of Education established in November 2014 to replace AIMs. The new assessment was adopted to reflect the change in state standards, Arizona college and career readiness standards. We will give AzMERIT to students in grades 3–8. Students in the fourth and eighth grades will take the AIMS science test.

Wilson students who meet the standards will have developed the skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening that are the foundation for a successful career. The test dates are April 13–15, 2016, and it is important for students to be at school every day that week. Please contact your principal if you have any questions.

Another exciting change is that we are remodeling at the Wilson Primary School. This summer, the school offices were moved to the front of the school to create a safer environment for students and staff. Construction began on May 26. The new offices will create a safer entrance for all persons. We take every precaution to ensure the safety of all students, parents, and staff.

I look forward to working with you and appreciate your support for our students.

Thank you!

Antonio Sanchez
