What is Wilson Head Start? 

  • A federally funded preschool program for 3, 4, & 5 year old children whose philosophy is that children learn best by playing and exploring in an age-appropriate supportive setting.
  • A parent and child program that believes children learn best when their parents are involved in their education.
  • A program with comprehensive services that addresses Social Service, Health, Nutrition, Parent Involvement, Educational and Disability needs of the children and families in the program.
  • A preschool program that incorporates children with special needs into the regular routine.
  • A preschool program that is Nationally Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

 

How can one Qualify for this free educational opportunity?

  • Be 3 or 4 years of age by September 1st of the current school year
  • Reside within the Wilson School District
  • Have a family income that meets Head Start federal income guidelines

 

What is the Mission of the Wilson Head Start Program?

 

  
 

The Wilson Head Start Program will provide quality educational and comprehensive support services for preschool children and their families.  In order to accomplish this goal, Wilson Head Start will partner with the Wilson School District, the Wilson Community, the City of Phoenix Grantee and other partnering agencies

Our knowledgeable staff will also partner with the primary educators of the children,
“the parents,” to lay the foundation for success in school and in life.  This team will strive to support children and families to become self-sufficient and through the use of a broad variety of services, will meet the individual needs of children and families.
