Welcome

  • A Message from Our Principal

My name is Demetra Baxter-Oliver, it is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Wilson Elementary School. I am honored to have been selected to join the Wilson School District.

I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles, and interests. We will celebrate their successes, small and large. We will encourage them every day and let them know that they are valued and have a special place in our school.

I am a native Texan who fell in love with a Texas transplant in Tucson. My husband Gearald and I blended families about 5 years ago and from that union we have one daughter, Sade, two sons, Clinten and Rashad, and four grandchildren and Jako, our dauschund-terrier for seventeen years.

I am a seasoned administrator who has committed twenty-seven years to education. I have served as a teacher, graduate teacher-assistant, assistant principal, principal, director, and public-school program advisor.

To our students, I cannot wait to meet you all. I hope that you are excited about the possibility of all the opportunities that will be available to all of you this coming school year.

In closing, please know that my door is always open. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2022-2023 school year.

    -Demetra Baxter-Oliver, PhD
