Masks and Social Distancing

On March 25th, Governor Ducey issued Executive Order 2021-06. This Executive Order rescinds various previously issued Executive Orders and removes face covering requirements in certain situations. It does not, however, rescind two existing orders (Executive Order 2020-51 and ADHS Emergency Measure 2020-04) mandating school districts and charter schools to require mask-wearing. Therefore, mask-wearing remains a requirement at Wilson School District campuses and activities by students, staff and visitors.

Governor Ducey’s Executive Order 2020-51 states:

All school districts and charter schools shall develop and implement a policy to require face coverings, such as face masks or face shields, for all staff and students over the age of five until the Arizona Department of Health Services determines that face coverings are no longer necessary or recommended to contain the spread of the virus.

Arizona Department of Health Services Emergency Measure 2020-04 states:

Each school district and charter school shall immediately mandate that masks are worn on school campus, on school buses, during school-associated activities, and while participating in or observing any school-associated athletic activities, by all students, faculty, staff, contractors and visitors.

Therefore, Wilson will continue implementing the current procedures outlined in our mitigation plan. In short, students, staff and any visitors must continue to wear a face mask when on Wilson property. It is important to remember that mask wearing is still identified as the primary mitigation measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
